Photolux Festival is the Lucca International Biennale of Photography. Light, the essence of photography, is the symbol of this project. At a time in history when we are constantly assaulted and pervaded by images, Photolux, like an ancient camera obscura, aims to project a clear and defined selection of the international photographic panorama. Under the banner of energy and discovery, Photolux Festival aims to be a valuable moment of encounter, a crossroads of great masters, experts in the field and enthusiasts, also opening a glimmer from which to observe new talents and the most avant-garde languages. The Festival collects and carries on the legacy of Lucca Photo Fest, the photography and video art festival born in 2005. In 2012, driven by the desire to focus even more on quality, the event became biennial with the new name Photolux Festival. The spirit and goals, however, have remained the same. The festival has become one of the most interesting in the European scene thanks to both the quality of the exhibits and authors proposed and the organizational efficiency of our staff. The always numerous presence of experts and journalists, including international ones, and the consensus of critics, public and press confirm that Lucca can be considered as a point of reference for photography in Italy and Europe.

Photolux Festival è la Biennale Internazionale di Fotografia di Lucca. La luce, l’essenza della fotografia, è il simbolo di questo progetto. In un momento storico in cui siamo continuamente assaliti e pervasi da immagini, Photolux, come un’antica camera oscura, si propone di proiettare una selezione chiara e definita del panorama fotografico internazionale. All’insegna dell’energia e della scoperta, Photolux Festival vuole essere un prezioso momento di incontro, un crocevia di grandi maestri, esperti del settore e appassionati, aprendo anche uno spiraglio da cui osservare i nuovi talenti e i linguaggi più all’avanguardia. Il Festival raccoglie e porta avanti l’eredità del Lucca Photo Fest, il festival di fotografia e video arte nato nel 2005. Nel 2012, spinti dalla volontà di concentrarsi ancora di più sulla qualità, la manifestazione è diventata biennale con il nuovo nome di Photolux Festival. Lo spirito e gli obiettivi però sono rimasti gli stessi. Il festival è diventato uno dei più interessanti nel panorama europeo grazie sia alla qualità delle mostre esposte e degli autori proposti sia all’efficienza organizzativa del nostro staff. La sempre numerosa presenza di esperti e giornalisti, anche internazionali, e il consenso da parte di critica, pubblico e stampa confermano che Lucca può essere considerata come un punto di riferimento per la fotografia in Italia e in Europa.
